Mental health awareness, education & empowerment in the Philippines
Serving minds. Empowering lives. Building stronger communities. Serve Your Mind PH is dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health through education, awareness, leadership development and sports-based programs. Every individual deserves the knowledge, support and resilience needed to thrive mentally, emotionally and socially.

Our impact

"Every time we wrap up a workshop, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude. The trust, openness and emotions shared during each session are truly humbling. Seeing participants feel safe enough to open up and unload their burdens is a powerful reminder of why I do this work. As we say our goodbyes, we leave not just with memories, but with hope, encouragement and excitement for what's ahead."
Mary Joy S. Competente, CMHT — Founder, Serve Your Mind PHMental health awareness for every Filipino
Serve Your Mind PH was founded on the belief that mental health awareness should be accessible, relatable and actionable for everyone. By combining psychological education, personal development and sports empowerment, we create meaningful experiences that inspire individuals to strengthen both their minds and their potential.
Through seminars, workshops, community outreach programs, school partnerships, leadership development initiatives and sports-based interventions, we aim to promote a culture where mental wellness is understood, prioritized and supported.
The Philippines has had a Mental Health Act since 2018, and since 2020 every private workplace has been required to have a mental health policy. The legal framework exists. What is still missing, in a great many schools, barangays and offices, is someone who knows what to do when a real person in front of them is struggling.
We are not a clinical service, and we do not diagnose or treat. What we do is train the people who are already there — the teacher, the supervisor, the barangay kagawad, the coach, the parent — so that someone in difficulty meets a prepared response instead of an awkward silence.

Mary Joy Competente, CMHT
My journey as a mental health advocate began when I realized how support wasn’t always accessible, and how conversations around mental health were often avoided or misunderstood. I want everyone to feel and believe that ‘U Matter’.

John Hendrix Competente
“Bilang coach, ang pinakamasarap na pakiramdam ay hindi ang manalo ng laro, kundi ang makita ang isang batang dating nagdududa sa sarili na ngayon ay may lakas ng loob nang mangarap at maniwala sa kanyang kakayahan.”
As a coach, the best feeling isn’t winning the game — it’s seeing a child who once doubted himself find the courage to dream and believe in his own ability.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our mental health awareness programs
What is Serve Your Mind PH?
Serve Your Mind PH is a mental health advocacy and empowerment initiative in the Philippines. We promote mental health awareness through education, leadership development and sports-based wellness, running seminars, workshops and community outreach programs for schools, barangays, LGUs and companies.
Are Serve Your Mind PH workshops and seminars free?
Some of our community-based workshops and outreach programs are offered free of charge through partnerships with local government units, schools, non-profit organizations, and corporate sponsors. For organizations seeking customized seminars, training programs, speaking engagements, or wellness workshops, professional service fees apply. Rates vary depending on the topic, audience size, program duration, and location. Please contact us for a customized proposal and quotation.
Is our school required to have a mental health program?
Yes. Section 24 of Republic Act 11036, the Mental Health Act, requires schools, universities and colleges to develop policies and programs for students, educators and employees that raise awareness of mental health issues, identify and support individuals at risk, and facilitate access and referral to treatment and psychosocial support. Section 23 covers integrating age-appropriate mental health content into the curriculum. Our school workshops are built to support exactly that requirement.
Is our company required to have a mental health program?
Yes. DOLE Department Order No. 208, Series of 2020 requires all private-sector workplaces and establishments in the Philippines, including those deploying Overseas Filipino Workers, to formulate and implement a Mental Health Workplace Policy and Program. It was issued pursuant to RA 11036 and RA 11058. Required components include advocacy, information, education and training — which is the part we deliver.
What actually happens in a mental health awareness workshop?
Sessions are practical rather than clinical. We cover what the early signs of a mental health concern look like, how to start a conversation with someone you are worried about, where to refer them in the Philippine context, and how to look after yourself when someone confides in you. Participants practise rather than only listen, because knowing the script and being able to use it under pressure are two different things.
Who can join a Serve Your Mind PH program?
Our mental health programs are designed for teens, women and men across communities in the Philippines — including students, parents, educators, HR teams, barangay leaders and corporate teams looking for mental health first aid training or wellness workshops.
What is a Mental Health First Aider, and why does it matter?
A Mental Health First Aider is someone trained to recognize the early signs of a mental health concern, respond with empathy, and connect a person to the right support — much like physical first aid, but for mental and emotional wellbeing. Our Mental Health First Aider Workshop equips educators, HR teams, leaders and parents with these exact skills.
How do I book a mental health seminar or workshop?
Use the "Get involved" button in the header or the contact form to reach out with your organization, preferred program and date. We work with schools, barangays, LGUs and companies across the Philippines to schedule mental health awareness and wellness sessions.
Do you offer mental health speakers for events, schools or companies?
Yes. Our founders serve as resource speakers and mental health trainers for seminars, corporate wellness days, school assemblies and leadership training sessions across the Philippines, covering topics like stress management, emotional intelligence, mindfulness and mental resilience. Contact us with your event details for a speaking engagement proposal.
Does Serve Your Mind PH only serve Quezon City?
We're based in Talipapa, Quezon City, but our mental health advocacy work reaches communities and organizations across the Philippines through school partnerships, barangay programs and corporate collaborations like our work with One Meralco Foundation.
